M. Victoria Otero Espinar holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics (1992) from the University of Santiago de Compostela (USC). She completed her doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr. Charles Tresser (University of Nice and IBM Research Center in New York) and Dr. Fernando Costal (USC), focusing on Discrete Dynamical Systems. Since 1986, she has been affiliated with USC, holding various teaching positions. Currently, she is a professor of Mathematical Analysis at USC. In 1989, she held the position of Academic Visitor at the T. J. Watson Research Center in Yorktown Heights, IBM, New York. Her research interests lie in the field of Differential and Difference Equations, Dynamical Systems, and Biomathematics. She has conducted research visits to national and international centers and laboratories such as the Mathematics Laboratory (University of Nice), King's College (University of Cambridge), Mathematics Institute (University of Warwick), University of Lisbon, University of Porto, and Autonomous University of Barcelona, among others. She has delivered numerous lectures and participated in roundtable discussions on various topics related to research, teaching, and learning, especially in the field of Mathematics. In addition to delivering numerous lectures and participating in roundtable discussions on research, teaching, and learning, particularly in Mathematics, she actively engages in teaching innovation activities and organizes scientific outreach initiatives aimed at fostering public engagement with mathematics. These include Summer Scientific Camps (Fecyt), ESCIVE, ESTALMAT, MatCampus, and the RSME-Imaginary exhibition. She has served as a jury member for various awards (PRISMA Awards, Galician Critics Awards, etc.). She has experience in university management and educational and scientific administration. Currently, she serves as Vice President of the Spanish Committee of Mathematics (CEMAT) and First Vice President of the Spanish Mathematical Society (RSME). Among other positions, she has served as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at USC, Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics at USC, President of the Conference of Deans of Mathematics, President of the USC Deans' Council. Since 2015, she has chaired the RSME-RAE Commission and was the President of the Professional Commission of the RSME. She has been a member of various committees, such as the Executive Committee of the CRUE-Teaching Commission, Executive Committee of CEMAT, USC Governing Board, RSME Governing Board, Scientific Committee of the USC Mathematics Institute. She has served as an evaluator for various faculty evaluation and accreditation programs for the National Agency for Quality Assessment and Accreditation (ANECA) and the Agency for Quality of the Galician University System (ACSUG). She is a member of the editorial board of several scientific journals.
