Samuel Suarez Suarez is a highly qualified postdoctoral researcher currently working in the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychobiology at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela and the Catholic University of Louvain. He obtained his Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela in 2013, followed by a Master's degree in Neuroscience in 2014 and a PhD in Neuroscience and Clinical Psychology in 2020. His research focus is on the characterization of the neurocognitive effects of Binge Drinking in young people and adolescents, utilizing neuroimaging techniques such as functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and electroencephalography (EEG). He has a particular interest in the interaction between emotional processes and cognitive executive functions such as decision making and impulse control. He has also completed specialized stays at the Universidad Jaume I de Castellon and the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Currently, he is working at the Catholic University of Louvain (Belgium) under the supervision of Professors Pierre Maurage and Philippe de Timary, developing a project that evaluates the impact of stress and negative affect on cognitive processes in young people with intensive alcohol consumption patterns.
