Abstract
The educational reality is constantly changing and is currently influenced by the globalization process that makes clear the need for communication in different languages. The objective of this work was to analyze the reality of the foreign language teaching process in public schools in Galicia, analyzing the proposal of teachers specialists in English and the tastes and preferences of the students in the educational act. This study involves twelve teachers specialists in foreign languages in Primary Education (11 women and 1 man, with an average age of 48,92 years old) and 247 students of 6th grade of Primary Education (117 girls and 130 boys, with an average age of 11,36 years old), from different public schools in the province of A Coruña (Galicia). An ad hoc questionnaire is designed taking as a reference the instrument of Aceituno, Amate, and Campos (2012), in which data is collected on the students' background regarding the English language in their family environment, the reality of the teaching-learning process of English in classrooms and the perception of methodological resources and games for learning a foreign language. The results show us the participatory and innovative approach of teachers in teaching English in Primary Education, where the game is part of the day to day in the teaching-learning process.
