Resumo

The present work contains a presentation of the Kantian notion of formal or general logic, considering that it is an achievement of the Königsberg thinker very relevant but somewhat veiled and that, for various reasons, has not obtained sufficient recognition. Three nuclei of difficulties emanating from Kant's own texts are analyzed: a) the problem of sources, b) the complex interrelation between three different approaches, which here we call logicist, psychological and functional, and c) the problem of the formulation of the notion of formal logic in the same reflective process that gives rise to transcendental logic. The discussion o the characterization of logic as formal and its denomination as general offers some keys to interpretation. And, finally, the particularity of the formal or general logic is pointed out as the only science that escapes the Copernican turn.
