Resumo

We evaluated the canine and equine hemostasis in a variety of pathophysiological conditions. We hypothesized that dogs with carcinoma and visceral hemangiosarcoma (vHSA) would have coagulopathies. Likewise, coagulopaties would be observed in Retired Racing Greyhounds (RRG) undergoing surgery and in horses with intestinal pathologies among others. Our objective was to describe hemostatic abnormalities by using Thromboelastography (TEG). Results described hypercoagulability and Disseminated Intravascular Coagulopathy in dogs with carcinomas and vHSA respectively. RRG trend to hypocoagulate compared to other breeds. Hemostatic alterations resulting in vascular fibrin deposits in horses do not correlate with TEG parameters nor with fibrin detection methods (i.e, PTAH, IHC)
