Abstract

The Orient is being submitted to deep changes and socioeconomical transformations, but it is a very disputed territory too, place with a great strategic value to a world-wide level, with important natural and energy resources but specially marked by an increasing in geopolitical troubles at different levels. On this matter, this report describes and analizes the main conflicts that are live nowadays in that complicated geographic region of the world, going deeply into the seasons (the identity and religion, the structural poverty and the interest in controlling these resources and raw materials). The settlement of foreing military forces with permanent and stable bases in this area, and the spread out of nuclear weapons in different countries, have become unstable and risky factors that increase social tension between the Orient and the Occident which threaten the global peace.
