Doctor by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with the thesis Global change and the uncertain future of biodiversity in Mediterranean-type ecosystems insights from a strategic foresight process 2015. Supervised by Dr. Lluís Brotons Alabau.

My research aims to investigate (1) how fire management and land use policies could lead to more effective wildfire mitigation while ensuring biodiversity conservation and long-term sustainable use of ecosystem services in the current context of global change, and (2) how to improve early-warning monitoring systems in fire-prone regions for more efficient, science-based decision-making. To address these questions, we use a wide range of techniques: process-based models (such as spatially explicit fire-succession models or landscape dynamic models), Earth Observation data (e.g. Sentinel, Landsat mission, etc.) and remote sensing technologies (e.g. Google Earth Engine), predictive ecology (e.g. ecological niche models, community-level modelling), ecological indicators (e.g. Community Thermal Index), spatial conservation prioritization and optimization tools (e.g. MARXAN).
