Research lines

  • 1) Sepsis research: identification of clinical, molecular and genetic risk factors to develop complications and mortality associated to this disease, a syndrome in ICUs with high prevalence and increasing incidence.
  • 2) Identification and characterization of cellular effects of anaesthetics: cytoprotective mechanisms, inflammatory mediators, oxydative stress.
  • 3) Identification of prognostic factors, therapeutic targets and characterization of sepsis-associated encephalopathy, the most frequent encephalopathy in ICUs without any current specific treatment.
