Abstract

The search and selection of the students that because of their possibilities are between the able ones, boys and girls that can learn quicker and deeper than their classmates, is not something new although it varies in different moments and situations. The difficulties to do this have been present from the first moments of the history and are due to both the absence of an uniform definition, and widely accepted about who are these subjects, and the non clarified terminology, and the great difference in the importance and trascendence given to diverse factors that could contribute or determine their recognition. This work has the intention to show some basic consideration to identify gifted childrens -the aspects undertaken to detect a group of able pupils- in relation with their classmates, studying some variables, and underline the importance of recognition of the gifted child as a previous step to attend their needs.
