El desarrollo sostenible y la responsabilidad social universitaria en el Ecuador

Abstract

The integration of social responsibility is one of the central axes of the university strategy as a fundamental element of the Ecuadorian universities commitment with society and its time. Thus, responsible universities should encourage the establishment of communication mechanisms that meet the information demands of different stakeholders that lead to more effective accountability. This dissertation aims to evaluate, through the development of information indexes, to what extent the accountability of Ecuadorian universities under the A and B category respond to the criteria of the triple bottom line approach. The novelty of this project lies in the lack of previous studies on this field of research in Ecuadorian higher education institutions. The results show the need to advance in the orientation towards sustainability in such institutions, for which specific policies are being proposed to policy makers.
