Abstract

The Palma parish of Santa Eulalia, is one of the oldest and most important temples of Mallorca, built after the invasion of the island in 1229. Located in the historic centre of the city and showcasing an incredible level of diverse historical pieces, this iconic building is currently protected, under the cultural interests law, categorised as a monument. Despite it’s obvious historic or artistic relevance as well as it’s protected status, there are a few problems related to documentation and cultural management which directly impede the process of conservation and divulgation of the artefacts. Resolving these problems and updating the technical documentation of the pieces, would potentially improve the visibility of our monument and its cultural management. Taking all of this into account, this investigation would like to present an alternative path for the management of the religious art of Santa Eulalia. This would be done through a system of strategic documentation for the conservation and divulgation process, based on each piece’s individual needs. These news techniques would play a major part in the aforementioned documentation plan process.
