Zusammenfassung
Objective: A meta-analytic review was designed with the aim of testing the followingthree hypotheses: 1) the observed probability of implantation of clear false memories issignificant; 2) the observed probability of implantation of partial false memories issignificant; and 3) the probability of implantation of a partial false memory is significantlyhigher than of a clear false memory. Method: For this purpose, a search in the scientificreference databases, Web of Science and Scopus, was performed, finding a total of 11primary studies, from which 14 effect sizes were obtained. A random effect meta-analysiscorrecting effect seizes by sampling error was performed. Results: The results showedthat the probability of developing false memories is significant for both clear (d = 0.95)and partial (d = 1.00) memory development, an effect size greater than 74.9% and 76.1%,respectively, of all possible effect sizes. Furthermore, the probability of developing apartial and clear false memory was equal. Conclusions: The results support the first twohypotheses, while the third hypothesis is rejected. The implications of these findings forthe evaluation of the testimony and judicial decision making are discussed.
