Resumen

This paper gives a schematic overview of the problems that arise in the analysis of verbal categories in Anatolian languages, mainly those concerning aspect and actionality. These languages are in a sense a “testing ground” for grammatical theory, since concrete usages often do not easily fit into the available theoretical classifications. In the article we bring together a number of examples, mainly from the Hittite language, which are representative for the discussion of the mutual relations between the categorisation of traditional grammar and the concrete embodiment of grammatical schemes in the texts themselves
