Resumen

Medieval women are frequently perceived during the conflicts like victims or people in silence throughout he urban struggles. However, female intervention like mediators, together with their active participation in the defense and in the offense, demonstrates a more complex reality. Through the reading of the Castilian chroniques, which are composed during the reigns of Juan II (1406-1454) and Enrique IV (1454-1474), we will analyze the different sides of the female role in conflictive contexts. To do this, we will exemplify the cases and the social situations lived by the women, and we will study the words dedicated by the chroniclers to their accting. By this, we will research the subjective use of the female presence in the text, the causes that explain their introduction and the social perception that hides their mention.
