Resumo

This conference centres on the importance of landscape as an asthetic framework and as a non–renewable, fragile an scarce natural resource, this importance growing more and more in our society. In forests, trees are usually the main constituent of landscape, thus acquiring the plant element a special relevance; that is the reason why a section of this work has been devoted to this subjec, where some tree species are proposed which provide colouring, following a seasonal succesions, in forests and wooded areas. The complex -and usually subjective- aspect of landscape evaluation is also discussed, ending with some recommendations for the forest management to be in consonance with the preservation and improvement of the scenery
