Resumo

We studied a sequence of Holocene marine deposits, at elevations between 3.45 and 3.8 m above the present spring high tide level. A sedimentological analysis was carried out and two AMS C14 dates were obtained (1663±73 cal BP and 580±22 cal BP). The deposits have been interpreted as storm crests deposited in the last 1600 yr. Results suggest that the evolution of this sector is related to changes in the morphodynamic environment by a combination of variations in the sediment supply, wave energy and the retreat of the sedimentary cliff at the bottom of the embayment.
