Abstract

A collection of harvestmen resulting from pitfall trapping carried out in 1977-78 in search of edaphic beetles in ten localities of Santiago de Compostela (La Coruña) has been recovered and studied. The collection consists of 543 specimens of 13 species, which add seven species to La Coruña’s list, reaching 18 species, with Paroligolophus agrestis and Dicranopalpus martini being first records for Galicia. The penial morphology of Odiellus seoanei and Homalenotus laranderas is described. Records from the ZUPV collection from other areas of Galicia, especially Lugo, are also incorporated, adding three further species to Galicia’s checklist: Nemastomella cristinae, Odiellus simplicipes and Oligolophus hansenii. The analysis of ancient bibliographic records has led us to discard the presence in Galicia of Nemastoma bimaculatum, Nemastomella bacillifera, Leiobunum defectivum and Odiellus spinosus, establishing the Galicia checklist at 27 species
