Abstract
The current study was aimed to analyse the risk factors traditionally related to juvenile antisocial and criminal behaviour in different cultural contexts, specifically in Peruvian and Spanish youth. Two samples of juvenile offenders were used: a sample of 266 Spanish males (Mage = 17.31, SD = 1.63) and a sample of 696 Peruvian males (Mage = 17.13, SD = 1.32). Different dynamic risk factors, social and individual, and different types of violent and nonviolent antisocial behaviour were analysed. Descriptive, correlation, and regression analyses were conducted. The results showed similar findings for juvenile offenders from both cultural contexts. Regarding the type of antisocial behaviour, significant differences in predictive risk factors were found. In conclusion, risk factors seem to similarly affect the manifestation of antisocial and criminal behaviour in Peruvian and in Spanish contexts.
