Resumen
Recent changes in private gardens in the coast of Alicante. Strategies for reducing water consumption. Many Mediterranean areas have recently witnessed a proliferation of private urban landscapes in residential developments following low-density residential patterns. In areas such as the coast of Alicante, in contrast to elsewhere, privately-owned gardens attached to houses are associated with residential developments that were built since the 1960s on the back of the expansion of residential tourism. The aim of this paper is to identify the recent changes and strategies in private gardens management for reducing water consumption. It is essential to examine these factors in greater depth in order to determine their repercussions on present and future water demand.
