Resumen

Space, class, and displacements. Widening the class difference through evictions. This paper aims to get deeper into the relations among space, class, and displacements. By analyzing the geographies where different kinds of displacement occurred in Palma from 2001 to 2014, we argue that evictions and foreclosures are violent strategies that intensify the class differentiation. These strategies are based on the accumulation by dispossession processes and on the strengthening of the homeownerships class in opposition to non‐homeownership class. Therefore, the class difference is here not only defined by the production means, but also by the reproduction means since housing has been commodified.
