Resumo

Indicators of environmental degradation can have an compatible evolution with the environmental Kuznets curve hypothesis (EKC). In this work we study the dissociation between the emissions evolution (Carbon and sulfur) and the GDP in some countries and we analyse the first-order explanations (the scale effect, the structure effect and the technological effect). The object of this paper is, therefore, identify the most effective actions adopted in order to break the relationship between the Carbon and sulfur emissions and the GDP. Descomposition analysis has been used to explore, with aggregated data, both differences and similarities between the selected pollution indicators growth (carbon and sulfur emissions) and the countries.
