Abstract

ABSTRACT Forests are fragmented or destroyed by the development of humanity, a large area dedicated to food production, it is called the agricultural matrix and it is estimated that its quality can accommodate considerable abundance and richness of species. In order to explore this hypothesis, agricultural matrices with different tree cover, different uses of the land and with a system of agroforestry in common (living fences of Jatropha curcas L.) were studied on the coast of the South Pacific of Guatemala, where it was determined that (i) the highest quality agricultural matrices have a greater abundance of bees and that (ii) Jatropha curcas, a plant used in live fences provide food resources to bees, in addition it was observed (iii) that the more distant matrixes exhibit less similarity of bees
