Zusammenfassung

In this article we make an approach to the current energy situation of Galicia and North Portugal and the future outlook. This situation is linked to the ever more pressing need for energy planning, so we set out the main aims and strategies considered in this field both in Galicia and in Portugal, as laid down by the European Union directives and international environmental commitments.
