Resumen
In this article we examine the concept of narrative cycle in context of the rhetorical and literary theories of the Late Middle Ages, in particular the principles of inventio, and the condition under which the concept of textuality arose during this period. We present an idea of the literary text as an open entity that facilitates the composition of macrotextual constructions and highlights the more abstract levels of textuality, such as narrative materia. Applying the aforementioned theorical principles, we propose a reformulation of the concept ands desing of the post-vulgate Arthurian cycle.
