Abstract

New measurements of single-nucleon knockout and total reaction cross sections of medium-mass neutron-rich nuclei were obtained at GSI (Darmstadt, Germany). The role that initial- and final-state interactions and nucleon-nucleon short-range correlations play in the knockout mechanism are investigated in the framework of the Glauber's theory. In addition, the investigation of the isotopic evolution of both single-nucleon and total reaction cross sections reveals the behavior of both reaction mechanisms for very asymmetric nuclei.
