Zusammenfassung

The Church of the Society of Jesus in Santiago de Compostela has caught the attention of the Art Historians who have hitherto studied it due to its ornamental bareness and apparent classicism. These features have led to discussions about its chronology, style, and, therefore, about its aesthetic assessment. The archival documents provided in this paper concerning the state of the temple at the time when the Jesuits were expelled open new perspectives for its analysis.
