Abstract

The so-far unpublished text of one of Emilia Pardo Bazán’s conferences, “San Francisco y la guerra”, is hereby recovered. Such a textual exhumation is inserted within the franciscanism of the author of San Francisco de Asís. Siglo XIII, whose particulars are accounted for in detail in Pardo Bazán’s graphic evolution. The recovered document, coming from the text typed by doña Emilia and deposited in the ARAG, is offered to the reader with a thorough set of notes which clarify and expand its most relevant historical and literary aspects as well as the declarative frame which triggers them, still in force in the Great War, around 1915.
