Resumo

This study analyzes the effect of engineers´ psychological capital on three individual outcomes especially important for organizations: job satisfaction, affective commitment and task performance. The model is tested with EQS 6.1. on a sample of 100 engineers. Results indicate that psychological capital has a significant positive effect on the three individual outcomes considered. This study provides some practical implications for organizations and employees. First, managers should try to seek individuals with high psychological capital in selection procedures. Moreover, since psychological capital is not a personality trait, and therefore, is open to development, it should be integrated into the organizations´ human resource development and performance management programs
