Resumen

Public participation in decision making related to strategic planning is essential to understand and solve problems in society. In this sense, the participation of society has become a necessity for organizations, both public and private, in order to improve the quality of strategic decisions. This review is a thorough analysis of the scientific work carried out to date in terms of the implementation of public participation in the process of strategic planning and its use in different sectorial contexts ago. The most commonly used methods show a wide range of options before choosing the most appropriate methodology applied in the process. Finally, this paper discusses the need for further progress in the investigation of public participation methodologies to profile the most suitable model to participatory planning context in which to develop.
