Abstract
In this article is presented the state-of-art in behavior modification approaches. In our analysis we have found two dominant trends. On the one hand, one approach that is strongly rooted in operant learning tradition which is in the midst of a significant period of growth and reinvigoration, particularly over the last 12 years and particularly under the rubric of clinical behavior analysis. On the other, the cognitive approach comprises a distinction between rationalist and constructivist approaches to therapy. The demarcation is based on a metaphysical perspective about the world and the nature of knowledge.
