Abstract
In the IV century BC. some Greek writers made different reflections about the transformations of the polis and its problems. This paper will deal with this aspect in the works by Isocrates, such as it appears reflected in his speech addressed to Philip ofMacedón. The solutions which he offers at those moments of crisis give us a glimpse of the nature and characteristics of a his torical model of Greek community, the polis.
