Resumo

In the current chapter, we will introduce the linguistic suite Linguakit, a multilingual toolkit which has been designed for natural language users. This tool contains a broad range of Natural Language Processing (NLP) modules whose main objective is to allow the user to make access in an easy way to technologically sophisticated linguistic techniques aimed at exploring, analyzing, and extracting accurate information from written text and documents. Most of the modules are working for four languages: Galician, Spanish, Portuguese, and English. Linguakit offers, among different multilingual modules, an automatic summarizer, a concordancer, a sentiment analyzer, a dependency parser, a part-of-speech tagger, a language checker, and several information extractors of keywords, multiwords, named entities, and semantic relations. The tool is suited to language professionals, namely those working in the educational system. As far as the lexicographic field is concerned, Linguakit can be used by lexicographers to search contextual information, colocations, and word relations. In this chapter, first we will describe the general architecture of the system, and then we will describe some didactic tasks built using modules of Linguakit.
