Abstract

We have studied the reproducibility of possible human case in the degenerative process of diabetic ocular structures in different strains of Wistar rats made diabetic by pancreatectomy or streptozotocin injection and haloxano, toxic substances targeted against pancreatic beta cells that produce an early and radical experimental diabetes. Furthermore, it sought to establish a correlation Immunohistochemical - ultrastructural variations to identify the cell / cell elements protagonists of change. He made a choice and comprehensive review of the literature by the authors as relevant matter Cunha-Vaz, Cogan, De Oliveira, Yanoff, Makhno and Kuwabara, etc. using various techniques and optical microscopy, electron and immunohistochemistry, it was the finding of non-feasibility of the model studied for comparison with what happens in humans, in that: the panel of cell markers and immunohistochemical not provide meaningful data could not establish any correlation with ultrastructural examination. The prothymosin alpha marker of cell proliferation, level has a negative result of the cellular elements of the vessel wall. The more significant the ultrastructural alteration was mitochondrial lesions pseudomielínicas shaped figures, the mechanisms of blood-retinal barrier permeability is compensated by the phenomenon of overactive macropinocytosis, in an attempt to compensate the hypoxic injury, no immunohistochemical evidence or Ultrastructural that the thickening of the basement membrane is a factor indicative of the injury or diabetic prognosis in that set. This suggests that all reproductive techniques of experimental models using pancreotomía diabetogenic box, alloxan and streptozotocin leave little clarified many aspects regarding the reproduction of the experimental model.
